Volunteer with Your Child with Special Needs

My daughter loves animals, so we are volunteering in an animal shelter where we walk dogs and help with socialization. Volunteering with your child with special needs will help him make friends, strengthen his ties to the community, broaden his support system and put him in contact with people who share his interests. Volunteering can also teach him skills that can be transferred into employment opportunities. Being out in the community with your child will also give you an opportunity to build awareness and educate people about your child’s disability or special need and change perceptions.
