Use Music to Teach Children about Different Cultures

It's important for kids to grow up with an open mind to the diverse world around them. One way to expose kids to the world is through music. Music provides children with a fun way to learn about other cultures. While your children are busy doing other things, like playing or having a snack, or while you drive in the car, play music with diverse cultural origins. Talk with your children about how different music sounds, about rhythm and instruments and if it’s loud, soft, fast or slow. Listen for the different instruments and share a fun fact or two about the country of origin.
