Did you know that first aid for anxiety and stress can be as close at hand as your own breath? Next time the walls are closing in, your child is having a tantrum or you feel an adrenaline reaction in your body from stressful circumstances - try this. Inhale for three counts, then exhale for six counts. Repeat this pattern six times and you will have spent about a minute resetting your central nervous system. Studies show that this type of 1:2 ratio breathing when repeated in times of extraordinary stress can actually restore physiological and mental balance. It works great with kids, too!
